When to machine in place
Pulling a turbine case, a pump case or a baseplate adds weeks of rigging, transport and reinstallation. Machining in place keeps the equipment in its foundation and its piping connected, which shortens the outage and avoids new alignment problems.
- Split line leaks or distortion on a steam turbine or pump case
- Damaged or out-of-flat flange faces
- Baseplates and soleplates out of level after settlement or grout failure
- Coupling and mounting surfaces that prevent a good alignment
What you receive
- FARO Arm measurement of the surface before machining
- Machining to the agreed flatness and finish
- FARO Arm measurement after machining to confirm the result
- A written record of as-found and as-left readings
Send the surface or component, dimensions, access restrictions, site location and outage window. Photos or drawings help define the machining scope.
